Oakland is preparing for a memorable 16th annual Car Show & Shine this coming Saturday, May 11th. Registration begins at 8 am, and the show runs from 10 am- 3:00 pm. Lining Locust Street will be classic cars from many eras with a promise to bring back fond memories for those strolling up the street to the melodies of The Neil Johnson Band, performing live for the event.
A “classic” is defined as a car that is 30 years or older; the classes of vehicles competing will include: Antique cars (pre 1930), 1930’s cars, 1940’s cars, 1950’s cars, 1960’s cars and 1970’s & 80’s cars. There are two classes for all trucks 1959 and before, and those more recent models. Last year’s show registered over 150 cars and trucks, quite a show for our little city. Winners in each category of the show will be chosen by popular vote and announced at 2:30 pm. Be sure to pick up a ballot at the registration table.
Oakland businesses will be open for the event and many are sponsors; antique and food and drink establishments invite patrons to enjoy a fun day in the historic downtown.
Don’t miss the excitement! Come and join the fun at the Oakland Car Show & Shine. The weather promises to be warm and sunny!
